West Asian Film Festival second edition in 2027 TBA ASAP

The Debut 2026 of West Asian Film Festival (March 25-29) was a fantastic success.

We gratefully thank our team, the participating festival movies, particularly – their filmmakers & distributers, Filmarchiv Austria and the METRO Kinokulturhaus – team, the City of Vienna, all our panel participants and naturally a very warm thank you to our outstanding audience – which showed great interest into the general festival topics & outlines, visions & mission – on each festival screenings-day, as well as at every open panel-discussion, artist-talks and during spontaneous networking sessions before and afterwards.

WAFF is going to return with a second edition in 2027 – again focusing on movies from West Asia, which are generally overlooked and/or underrated by western audiences and their corresponding diasporas from these regions. We will lay our focus on those regions especially again that are not known as pioneering traditional movies production mills-countries – especially within western audiences.

This platform will remain a serious space for dialogue about this region [.]
