Little Syria

Little Syria, directed by Reem Karssli and Madalina Rosca, is an intimate and profoundly human documentary that follows the long, unfinished journeys of Syrian refugees as they navigate displacement, loss, and the search for belonging. Filmed over more than two decades across Syria, Germany, and several European countries, the film centres on Reem, her brother Mohammed, and Yasser – three individuals caught between a homeland they fled to survive and a Europe that alternately embraces and rejects them.

As they struggle with the trauma of exile and attempt to make sense of what remains of the Syrian revolution, the documentary becomes a raw and confidential insight into invisible lives shaped by war, resilience, and hope. Little Syria unfolds as a portrait of a diaspora that carries the shattered remnants of home, memory, and identity into uncertain futures.
